Rainforest Flight

A live competition brief for the well established Interiors company, Harlequin. Alexandra’s group decided on the theme of the tropical rainforest, taking inspiration from exotic floral and fauna in particular, tropical birds and insects. Her work took on a multidisciplinary approach combining both printed and embroidered samples, using drawing as a main focus. The final collection combined work of two printers, a weaver and Alexandra, the embroiderer. The vibrant, exotic colour palette definitely helped create a collection full of energy and the group were highly commended by the panel of designers who came in to view their final presentation. This was a good experience as the group bounced ideas off one another and it taught them what it’s like to work as a team. A copy of the final presentation is available on request.
